Home

Welcome to our site- the online home of 3rd Cleethorpes Scout Group… which has been home to adventure for over 100 years.

Scouting offers fun and friendship, challenge and everyday adventure to over 400,000 girls and boys across the UK. We have a positive impact on young people, our 100,000 adult volunteers and the communities in which we live.

Offering over 200 different activities from abseiling and archery to drama, street sports and water zorbing, Scouting helps 6-25 year olds grow in confidence, achieve their full potential and become active members of their communities.

Across generations, Scouting has proved a powerful force for good, bringing communities together and contributing to society. But it has always had one aim above all others: to prepare young people for the future.

Each week we offer a unique mix of fun, friendship and outdoor adventure that appeals just as much to a young person now as it did when our group started in 1912. A strong sense of optimism, duty and cheerful self-reliance still defines a Scout now as it did then. The values we instil; the character, leadership and teamworking skills we deliver have never been more highly prized by employers and wider society

About

3rd Cleethorpes Scout Group was formed in November 1912, so we have been having adventures for over 100 years!
We provide everyday adventure and develop skills for life to young people living in the Carr Lane area (and beyond!) as part of Grimsby and Cleethorpes District Scouts.
We are a thriving group and have a Beaver Colony (for girls and boys aged betwen 6 and 8) which meets on a Thursday.  Two Cub packs (for girls and boys aged 8- 10 1/2) which meet on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday and a Scout Troop (for girls and boys aged 10-14) which meets on a Wednesday.
We are always keen to welcome new people to the group to share our adventures with us- so if you would like to get involved as a young person or a volunteer please contact us!

Can you inspire?

Have you ever made sandcastles in December?

Our Beaver Scouts have! Our meeting places have been beaches, the surface of the moon, and even a pirate’s lair. The only limit is our imagination as we plan our activities.

This is where you come in. We need an extra pair of hands, eyes and even feet! We’d like you to help with craft activities, help to judge games and explain things when they don’t quite know the rules.
If you can give us one hour twice a month to help out at Beavers it would make a vast difference to what activities the Beavers can do. You never know you might just get to the moon…

Can you build a den?

Building dens is a real treat when you are nine, and even more fun when you are an adult! We need you to come along to Cubs and support our young people.

Not just build dens, but help do map work, craft, walking, hiking and even make stuff from bits of wood (we call that pioneering). What we need is an extra pair of hands to help the leaders provide these fantastic activities.

You don’t have to be an adventurer like Bear Grylls to get involved with Scouting. Do you have first aid knowledge? Are you good with numbers? Handy in the kitchen? Or are you a DIY whizz? We all have useful skills and you can volunteer and help in many ways.

Volunteering with us is easy, fun and flexible – how much time you give is completely up to you. Whether you help out once a fortnight, month or term or just at special events or camps, there is bound to be a role you can play, and no matter how you get involved, we’ll make sure you’re properly trained and supported.

As well as gaining externally recognised skills and having a brilliant time, Scouting also offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives.

If you would like a chat about how you can get involved, please call 01472 731732 or email 3rdcleethorpes@gycscouts.org.uk and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
